Our Mystery Style Events can cover any venue, from large parties, to medium size events, to smaller and more intimate environments. We approach our mystery style entertainment in three Tiers. The First Tier - our Trial By Dinner mysteries. It’s interactive, but more elaborate, and performance oriented. The Second Tier, our Mingling Variety Performance, has scripted comic moments, but the emphasis is on mingling interaction throughout. Finally, Tier Three, our Mini Mystery performances, for smaller groups and budgets. Each Tier has it’s own individual approach and budget.

We utilize the show themes below, and have them adjusted for each approach or tier.

Tier One — Trial By Dinner
Running Time: 3 - 3 ½ hours. Break for dinner.  Interactive Play.
So, what exactly is a Trial By Dinner show? It is a mock trial as a backdrop for a murder mystery! The premise, someone has already kicked the bucket. So, someone is on trial for the dastardly deed. This is performed as a 3 hour presentation, complete with jury selection (your guests of course), witnesses (again, your guests) a Judge, a Prosecutor, a Defense Attorney, and one additional actor for comic effect and interaction. We open the show with the jury selection and a witness or two. Then, you serve dinner. After dinner, the trial starts back up in earnest and off we go. Some of your guests get to be the witnesses, who testify using a Character Bio Sheet, which they use on the stand. It’s a no-brainer for your guest-witnesses. It’s their moment to use the one-liner comic approach we’ve created to be comfortably in the spotlight, for a fun, easy, non-threatening way of playing with us. Call us for more information.

Tier Two — MVP, Mingling Variety Performance
Running Time: 3 hours, can be run throughout cocktails and dinner.
We introduce the suspects, plant a few comic interactions with the actors, and wind it up with a summation of who dun it, etc. So, there’s performance value here, but not to the extent of a Trial By Dinner interactive play. The emphasis here, is to have your guests mingle throughout the evening. This is also a 3 hour program, but in this case, the audience and suspects are mingling the whole time, even during dinner if they choose. Everyone is a detective. A wonderful device for getting people who may not know each other, to have the chance to chat with each other and have fun. Our actors rove around in character, nudging folks along and providing comic entertainment along the way.
FYI:  This is not a glitzy, special effects show. We don’t provide ‘action sequences’ here. We do provide Comic Sequences though! Emphasis on the comedy, not the mystery.

Tier Three — The Mini Mystery Event
Running Time: 1 - 1 ½ hrs max.  After dinner entertainment.  Interactive mingling.
This is a comic mystery designed with the small group and budget in mind. We limit this show to groups of 50 or smaller. Why? Because the larger the audience, the more actors we need to move things along, and to allow all the audience members to interact in a relaxed and fun way with all the suspects, etc. This Mini Mystery, is designed to be performed after dinner. Running time, one hour, to one and a half hours tops. Many of the same aspects of the MVP are still there, only a much tighter show, and fewer actors. Perfect for that small get together or much smaller company or organization. More like an after dinner special presentation.

The Shows below are available for each of the Tiers above. For additional fees, we can also offer customized versions.

The Shows

Da Roaring 20s Mob Trial

You are living in the Roaring 20's. It's a world filled with flappers and speakeasies. Gangsters and mobs rule da streets. The most powerful of them all is the Carphone mob, with their leader Al "Scratch Face" Carphone, controlling most of da city. Elliot Nest, famed G-man and bird watcher, has finally compiled enough evidence to bring "Scratch Face" to trial and wants to put Al away for life, or longer. Al stands accused of murder, and a number of other illegal acts, including tux evasion - the act of renting a tuxedo and never returning it. Will Al be goin' to da slammer?

The 1950s Rock Around the Court

It's the 1950's. Bobby-soxers, greasers and hot cars rule the day - as does this new sound called rock and roll. It's a time of innocence and simplicity. Everything seems to be going fine until... a scandal. It burst the bubble of every girl wearing a puppy skirt and angered every guy who ever smoothed Brillo-Cream into his hair. It's known as the Paymoolah Music Scandal, or PMS. Is hairy DJ Woofman Jack guilty of taking bribes? Was the plane crash that killed three musicians an accident - or was it murder? What a way to rock and roll!

The Wild West Trial

Howdy pardner! Thars sumthin' funny going on in these here parts. Sure there's the usual cattle rustlin', horse stealin' and shootouts - heck, that's a typical Saturday night in Virginnytown. But now, someone's been killed over gold in them thar hills. Annie Hokely, co-owner of the Hills O Gold Mine, died in a suspicious "accident." Did Carl MacGreedy get greedy, or or someone else behind it all?
